Planted in 2008 on bare pasture by fourth-generation South Islander Freddy Davison, the 20-hectare Ward Valley Estate vineyard sits in Marlborough’s southern Awatere. Freddy found his perfect site in Ward—high-altitude, clay-rich soils, and a cool, dry climate ideal for Pinot Noir. The unique terroir, shaped by extremes and deep clay, yields wines of rare intensity and complexity. Wild and untamed, Ward Valley produces truly distinctive wines.
